Mechanical Engineering Students’ Association (MESA)

Established in 1996

 

Mechanical Engineering Student Association (MESA) has been established with an aim to expose the students to the various engineering and social aspects, helping them in developing their personalities, personal and team skills and imparting professional ethics. It is a unique forum for students and staff that help building a brand image of the Department.

The association of Mechanical Engineering students organizes lectures of distinguished personnel & faculty from various reputed Institutes and Organizations in order to educate our students and update their knowledge and skills so that the budding engineers can be at par with the prevailing Industrial requirements. The Association also provides a platform for the students to enhance their aptitude and interpersonal skills.

 

MESA conducts various activities such as -

  • National level paper presentation Perspectomech under the banner EUREKA.

  • Project Competition and Industry Problem Solver events under JIDNYASA.

  • Extra and co-curricular activities.

  • Quiz competitions.

  • Cultural activities.

  • Teacher’s and Engineer’s day.

  • Group Discussion sessions

  • Technical tours and Industrial visits.

  • Other student centered activities

ACTIVITIES ORGANIZED BY MESA DURING ACADEMIC YEAR 2016-17

 

1. FRESHERS' WELCOME FUNCTION

On 9th July 2016, MESA organized a function to welcome new Second Year students to the Department. All the Faculty members and Second year students were present on this occasion. The ceremony began with the felicitation of First Year (Mechanical) toppers at the hands of faculty members. Mr. Pratik Mane topped the list with 80.36% in SU Examinations.

Prof. N. S. Hanamapure, Head of the Department addressed the students followed by Prof. V. R. Gambhire talked about the Accreditation, its importance and various activities under it. Departmental Training & Placement Officer Prof. R. T. Salunkhe elaborated the modus operandi of TPO Cell for Training and Placement. He also focused on various criteria adopted by the recruiters. Mr. Ritesh Khandekar (2013-14), one of the alumni, shared his experiences with the audience. He discussed his views on Banking Sector as one of the avenues for Engineers.

Mr. Ishwar Gophane and Mr. Vaibhav Chavan presented the for the academic year 2016-17. Miss. Sneha Chile, Mr. Pratik Mane, students from Second Year, expressed their views, opinions and appeals. Finally, MESA President, Mr. Vaibhav Chavan expressed vote of thanks.

 

2. PROGRAM ON AWARENESS OF CAMPUS RECRUITMENT DRIVES

MESA organized a program on Awareness of Campus recruitments for the T.E and B.E students on 15th July, 2016 under the guidance of Training and Placement Cell.

            The entire Mechanical faculty and the students of Third and Final Year were present for this program. Mr. Narendra Sardesai, MESA Member, welcomed the invitees and the Training and Placement Cell of the Department. This program was organized in order to make the students aware of Campus recruitment drives for the placements. Training and Placement co-ordinators of the Department Prof. R. T. Salunkhe, Prof. P. V. Kamble and Prof. S. H. Patil were present on this occasion. During the sessions, Prof. R. T. Salunkhe elaborated the Training and Placement Cell Activities and also suggested students to improve the communication skills and vocabulary.  Prof. Prahlad V. Kamble shared information regarding the placements of year 2015-16 and feedbacks given by the companies that conducted the drives at TKIET. Prof. S.H. Patil addressed the students about criteria of campus selection and also imparted the information regarding the skills to be improved by the students.

3. PRESENTATION ON GROUP DISCUSSION

MESA organized Presentation on Group Discussion for the S.E. Students of Mechanical Department on 19 July, 2016. Miss. Sneha Chile (SE Mech.) gave a presentation on Group Discussion.

                  The faculty members, MESA Faculty Adviser and S.E. Students were present for this program. Mr. Ronak Shah, the Master of Ceremonies, offered Welcome speech at the beginning. This program was organized in order to impart brief information regarding Group Discussion and its Rules.

Miss. Sneha Chile, through her presentation, shared the information about importance of Group Discussion and its benefits in Campus Selection. She also threw a light on Do's and Don’ts of Group Discussion.

This presentation was followed by a sample Group Discussion session on 'Social Media- Curse or Boon' so that the students would get the clearer idea of the Group Discussion.

4. MESA INAUGURATION CEREMONY

MESA, Mechanical Engineering Students' Association was formally inaugurated on 6th August 2016. Vinay Kore Krida va Sanskruti Kendra, Warananagar, witnessed this gigantic and ceremonial event.

Mr. Parag Kulkarni Head of Piping Design, TICB, Mumbai, graced the dais as the Chief Guest of the Inauguration Function. Principal, Dr. S. V. Anekar, Training & Placement Officer Prof. S. T. Patil, In-charge Head of the Department Prof. A. S. Todkar, MESA Faculty Advisor Prof. S. M. Gidaveer and President of MESA, Mr. Vaibhav Chavan were among the dignitaries on dais. All the students and faculty members of Mechanical Engineering Department were present on this iconic event.

Miss. Yogita Shinde offered a welcome speech and Mr. Ronak Shah introduced the Chief Guest of the ceremony in terms of his academic and industrial career.

On this occasion, Principal, Dr. S. V. Anekar addressed the students and shared information about the various activities conducted by MESA.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Parag Kulkarni through his speech showcased not only his company, but focused on Scope of Mechanical Engineering in Industries, applications of mechanical devices in various fields. He addressed students to participate in different activities with academics. During his speech, he also shared his personal experiences as an Industrialist.

As a token of love and respect, MESA presented a portrait of Goddess Mahalaskhmi to Mr. Parag Kulkarni, at the hands of Principal Dr. S. V. Anekar.
