Mechanical Engineering Student’s Association (MESA)
Established in 1996
Mechanical Engineering Student Association (MESA) has been established which aims at exposing the students to the various engineering and social aspects, helping them in developing their personalities, personal and team skills and imparting professional ethics. It is a unique forum for students and staff that help building a brand image of the Department.
The association of Mechanical Engineering students organizes lectures of distinguished personnel & faculty from various reputed Institutes and Organizations in order to educate our students and update their knowledge and skills so that the budding engineers can be at par with the prevailing Industrial requirements. The Association also provides a platform for the students to enhance their aptitude and interpersonal skills.
MESA conducts various activities such as -

- Project Competition and Industry Problem Solver events under JIDNYASA.
- Extra and co-curricular activities.
- Quiz competitions.
- Cultural activities.

A. FRESHERS' WELCOME FUNCTION
On 10th July 2015, MESA organised a function to welcome new Second Year students to the Department. All the Faculty members and Second year students were present on this occassion. Prof. P. V. Kamble was sworn in as a fresh Faculty Advisor of MESA receiving the charge from Prof. V. N. Mane, the former Faculty Advisor, MESA. Prof. N. S. Hanamapure, Head of the Department addresses the students followed by Prof. V. R. Gambhire talked about the importance of Accreditation and various activities under it. Departmental Training & Placement Officer Prof. R. T. Salunkhe elaborated the modus operandi of TPO Cell for Training and Placement. He also focussed on various criteria adopted by the recruiters. A few students from Second Year, expressed their views, opinions and appeals.






B. MESA Activities
1. MESA INAUGURATION
MESA, Mechanical Engineering Students' Association was formally inaugurated on 31st July 2015.
Mr. Derrick Masceranhes, Rotating Equipment Engineer, Black and Veatch, graced the dais as the Chief Guest of the Inauguration Function. Principal, Dr. S. V. Anekar, Training & Placement Officer Prof. S. T. Patil, Head of the Department Prof. N. S. Hanamapure, MESA Faculty Advisor Prof. S. M. Gidaveer and President of MESA, Mr. Rohit Khatal were among the dignitaries on dais. Principal Dr. S. V. Anekar addressed the audience and welcomed the Chief Guest followed by a speech by Prof. N. S. Hanamapure.
On this occasion, Mr. Derrick Masceranhes, through his presentation, showcased his company, Black and Veatch which is an EPC Organization. He also focussed on the particular areas where Mechanical Engineers could be placed in Black and Veatch.

2.EUREKA 2015
The most awaited and one of iconic events of TKIET, EUREKA 2k15, a National level Paper Presentation Competition was held on 12th of September 2015. As a part of this, Department of Mechanical Engineering arranged this event under the theme PERSPECTOMECH. Department received 70 papers on various topics like Automation in Agriculture sector, recent trends in CAD/CAM/CAE, Modern trends in non-conventional energy sources, etc. Out of them, 52 were accepted and presented.
Dr. Suresh Mane and Dr. Nadaf, Sheikh College of Engg. & Tech. Belagavi, were invited for assessing the papers. Mr. Shubham Mali and Mr. Vikram Ekshinge both from TKIET, Warananagar, bagged the First Prize. Mr. Mangesh Rane and Mr. Ritosh Koli from AMGOI, Wathar won the Second. Mr. Anurag Patil and Mr. Swaroop Patil from KIT’s College of Engineering stood third. Department also won the award, Best Organizing Department, which added a feather in our cap.

3.INDUSRTY INSTITUTE INTERACTION:
One day workshop on Industry Institute Interaction was organized on 14th September 2015 in Mechanical Engineering Department. The main objective of this programme is to make the students aware of industrial atmosphere, requirements, opportunities etc.
Shri Madan Kulkarni from Kalakruti Industries, Shri Gajanan Kadukar from Altech Alloy, Kolhapur, Shri Sandip Salokhe from Sunmill Industries, Kolhapur were invitted for the programme. They shared their industrial experience with students and highlighted on expectation of industries from budding engineers. Shri Madan Kulkarni focused on different financial and technical aspects related to small scale industries (SSI), advanced technology used in companies, research and devel-opment scope in mechanical industries. Shri Gajanan Kadokar addressed the audience about the different industry problems and role of technical educational institute to consult the industry to find solutions.
The program was ended with interactive session between expertise and students.

4. PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION MEET
Department organized PTA meet on 22nd August 2015 for BE Mechanical class. Fifty four parents from various dis-tricts like Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara and Solapur came to college campus. They had felicitated and some of them honored by Hon. Principal for their ward’s success in the last university examination. Later, willingly some of the parents interacted with staff members and students and appreciated departments endeavors for their wards, also suggested certain measures for carrier development. For the meet, Hon. Principal addressed with his valuable speech. Also Head of department and other coordinators of various activities took part in the interaction. Function was organized by department counseling Coordinator Prof. P. R. Patil and supported by department counseling coordinators.

4.One Day Workshop with SKF Bearings Pune
On 1st October 2014, a technical team of SKF Bearings, Pune visited our Department to conduct a workshop on their products. Mr. Amit Phadake and Mr. Rajesh Tahasildar of SKF Bearings presented about Bearings, Mountings, Dismountings, Fittings and precautions to be taken while dealing with Bearings. They also focussed on the Manufacturing of Bearings. The session conclude with an interaction and question answer session between the experts and the students.
5. A Guest Lecture was arranged on 29th July 2014 on Competitive Examinations. Mr. Raju Kawale shared his views and experiences regarding the subject. He also mentioned some tips to crack the Competitive Examinations. He told that Engineering students should take these Examinations seriously and study dedicatedly so as to have a good career for them. He focussed on Perceverance, Consistancy and dedication towards the studies.

6. Mr. Sanjay Gavade delivered an Expert Lecture on PLC and Automation for Third Year Students on 13th August 2014.

C. NSS Activities
1. On 27th of September, Team NSS was on the mission of cleaning Shivneri Kreedangan. NSS members enthusuastically participated in the mission.

2. On the occasion of T.K.I.E.T.'s Foundation Day & Teachers' Day N.S.S. Students arranged Blood Donatation Camp at Gandhi Hospital Warananagar. Staff members and students registered their participation for the noble cause.

D. Industrial Visits
1. Pro. M. R. Jadhav and Prof. M. V. Jadhav organized an Industrial visit to Venkateshwara Alloy Steels and Omega Inductions, MIDC Gokulshirgaon, Kolhapur on 7th October 2014 for Second Year students for Metallurgy. Students were exposed to the practical aspects of the processes like Sand preparation, CO2 molding, Core making, Fettling and to the equipments like Spectrometer and High frequency Induction furnace.
2. Prof. A. V. Patil and Prof. M. R. Todkar organized a visit to Maruti-Suzuki Showroom, Peth Naka, on 13thOctober 2014 for Final Year students for Automobile Engineering. Students learnt about various systems of an automobile like Transmission system, Braking System, Steering System, Electrical Systems, etc. They were also demonstrated about Wheel Alignment and Wheel balancing process.
3. Prof. P. V. Mulik and Mr. U. J. Patil carried the First Year students to Tatyasaheb Kore Warana Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana, Warananagar on 10th October 2014 for industrial visit. They were shown the Boilers and its accessories & mountings, Steam power plant, Turbines, Cooling towers and economizer, etc.
